Like a Little Loaf of Bread

Loafing is very sacred among cats. It consists of laying down with their legs and tail curled up underneath them. When they do this, they end up looking like a loaf of bread. Or I sometimes like to think of it as a duck when it is in the water. Cats do this to keep their whole body warmer when they are laying down and relaxing. Cleo loves to loaf. Over the years, we have noticed that some loafs are better than others, So we started rating them out of ten whenever we see her do it. She usually does pretty well, but does not always get a ten out of ten.

• "Cat Loaf" started as an internet phenomenon. Thank you internet.
• When cats loaf, it is a sign that they are relaxed and feel safe. As it puts them in a rather vulnerable position.
• Loafing allows a cat stay warmer when relaxing.
• While usually normal, a cat that loafs too much could be a sign they are in pain and unable to put weight on their legs.
